Book Week 2017 is on from Saturday 19th August through to Friday 25th August (though plenty of schools celebrate Book Week before or after the official week). The theme for 2017 is... Escape to Everywhere!

Kids love Book Week. It's a fun opportunity to go to school in costume, but also give them the creative outlet to choose a costume based on their their favourite book characters. This is something different from the everyday routine and school uniform.

Schools also love Book Week as it's the ideal platform to encourage children to embrace books and reading and gives the opportunity to show how books can bring joy and happiness and brighten up the world around us.

Parents can (sometimes) curse Book Week. Tomorrow your child needs to be dressed as the Big Friendly Giant and the Elsa costume from last year just won't do?! That's where Disguises Costumes comes to the rescue. We're ready and stocked with a big range of kids' costumes suited to this years theme that can be delivered overnight or collected in store on the way to school.

The theme 'Escape to Everywhere' is quite broad which allows your child's imagination to be the limit! Do they want to be a heroic astronaut from outer space? A wild animal which has escaped from the zoo? Alice down the rabbit hole? Peter Pan from Neverland? Or maybe they wish to escape the Muggle world all together and enter the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?!

Matilda is a Roald Dahl character who sweet girl stuck in a horrid, neglectful family. Matilda develops her reading skills very early on and discovers books at the local library which she uses as her imagination's escape from her dreadful home life. Matilda is a great role model for young children as she encourages reading and encourages children to trust in themselves and their skills. In addition to sweet Matilda, we also have the nasty Miss Trunchbull costume who being the baddie of the story enjoys locking children in the chokey with no intentions on ever letting them escape!

Escape the wicked farmers trap in your Fantastic Mr Fox costume available in Adult and Children sizes. This costume, based on the book by Roald Dahl, features his iconic crimson tails coat with yellow waistcoat, mask, tail and cravat.

Escape to the chocolate factory and create the candy of your dreams! Just be sure to brush twice daily..

Just like Dorothy, your little one can escape to Oz in this blue and white gingham print dress only to realise, "there's no place like home...!".

Escape to Everywhere on a Jolly Holiday with Mary in your very own Mary Poppins dress for Adults and Children. We also have adorable costumes for Jane and Michael Banks and you can also 'Step in time' in our chimney sweeper costume as the lovable and charming Bert.

Dress as the sweet Oliver Twist or his pick pocketing sidekick the Artful Dodger, but be sure to no get caught by the Police!

Dress like the classic fairy tale character Little Red Riding Hood in our range of children and adult costumes. For something different, and to avoid a classroom full of Little Red's, we also have the wolf too - Even the wolf in Grandma's nightgown... All the better to eat you with, my dear!

One book character who has been escaping to places all over the world since the 80's is Where's Wally. You can dress as Wally and Wanda in our range of costumes available for both kids and teachers.

For children wanting to choose their favourite comic book character, we of course have Superheroes costumes! Would you little one prefer to dress like Batman, "The Caped Crusader" or his sidekick Batgirl? Or would they prefer the cheeky Harley Quinn or Catwoman? Maybe the other two DC Heroes Wonder Woman and Superman are their favourite?
